Plans have been published to convert Blackpool's Grade II-listed former Post Office and Sorting Office which first opened at the beginning of the twentieth century into a new hotel.

The plan seeks to retain many of the building’s original features but behind its stained-glass windows IHG Hotels are planning to create a new 148-bedroom Hotel Indigo.

The new Indigo Hotel will feature a range of extended-stay suites with additional facilities, such as kitchenettes - the first time Hotel Indigo plan to offer extended stay rooms in addition to the classic Indigo rooms.

The new Indigo Hotel Blackpool will be a short walk from Blackpool station, the Winter Gardens and the £28million Conference Centre.

Staying in Lancashire but moving to the east of the county -  plans have been submitted to transform the  Grade-I-listed Gisburne Park Estate in the Ribble Valley into a new luxury hotel and spa complete with a  private members club and art centre.

For the past 35 years, the mansion on Gisburne Park Estate has operated as a private hospital.

If all goes to plan development work on the new project is expected to start later this year.

We will monitor progress on both projects.
