Plans have just been submitted for a new heritage project to restore Leicester's Grade-II listed Grand Hotel to its former glory.
Plans include improvements to the hotel entrance, with cleaning and repairs to the windows and balcony plus repairs to the existing canopy above the entrance.
The shops along the ground floor of the Grand Hotel would also be transformed to bring them more into line with the historic building. Modern signs would be replaced, and the entrances rebuilt with sustainable hardwood timber and toughened glass.
If planning permission is granted, redevelopment work on the project is likely to start this summer.
The Grand hotel – is now owned by the Mercure group.
Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel has 104 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar/lounge plus fitness facilities. There are seven fully equipped meeting rooms with the largest accommodating up to 400 guests. Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel is 800metres from Leicester Station.
