Plans for a major investment at the Harrogate Convention Centre are due to be discussed by Harrogate Borough Council next week.
Harrogate Convention Centre is now 40 years old and it is considered to be ‘in need of an upgrade’.
Phase one of the project would see a complete refurbishment of the auditorium and two of the main halls. New breakout facilities would be created by subdividing the current Studio 2 space.
Phase two of the project would see part of the building demolished to be replaced with a new 54,000 sq ft flexible, events space.
Improved access between the rooms is also part of the plan as well as upgrading the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems plus the electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Harrogate Convention Centre are aiming to create more flexible space to attract a broader customer base.
