Around 80 hotels are set to desert the Travelodge group and sign a new lease with Goodnight, a new hotel branding.
The Goodnight brand will launch in January 2021 in conjunction with its partner Village Hotels, which also operates 31 hotels around the UK.
The move from Travelodge to Goodnight Hotels has resulted from an acrimonious battle between the individual Travelodge operators and their respective landlords over rent cuts during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Meanwhile the national press is reporting that up to 400 Travelodges could be rebranded. Hotel groups including Accor, Marriott, Intercontinental, Hilton and Jurys Inns have been circling Travelodge since the pandemic outbreak. Accor appear to be the favourites with the Travelodges rebranding to become Ibis Hotels.
Travelodge is Britain’s second biggest hotel chain currently with 574 hotels in the UK.
