Cristiano Ronaldo, former Manchester United footballer, has teamed up with Pestana Hotels to open a 'high end lifestyle hotel' in the centre of Manchester. Subject to planning approval the new hotel is expected to open in 2023.
The project would see the Grade II-listed Halls Building - home to The Piccadilly Tavern pub - redeveloped, with the empty building next door demolished and replaced with a new 11-storey tower.
The Pestana CR7 Manchester Hotel would overlook Piccadilly Gardens in central Manchester.
Pestana CR7 Hotel Manchester would have 151 bedrooms, a ground floor bar and cafe, basement gym plus a roof terrace. The Piccadilly Tavern unit would also be refurbished as part of the plan and would remain a pub. New retail and leisure units would also be created at street level.
Pestana Group currently operate the four-star Chelsea Bridge Hotel and Spa in London as well as a portfolio of hotels including sites in Berlin, Barcelona and Caracas.
Plans for Pestana CR7 Hotel Manchester are expected to go before a planning committee in the near future.
