Plans have just been submitted to Birmingham City Council for an exciting major new mixed-use scheme on a five-acre site in Digbeth close to the city centre. The scheme will include a 133-bedroom hotel at the heart of a new cultural, commercial and residential neighbourhood.

The hotel will occupy a key location overlooking a proposed Skypark on Duddeston Viaduct and a new public park. It will form part of a major new £260 million regeneration scheme in Birmingham city centre.

A planning decision is expected by the autumn. If approved the developer is hoping to start work early next year.

Construction is expected to start on site this summer on the new Leonardo-branded hotel in the centre of Manchester.

Leonardo Hotel will be a14-storey hotel, on the corner of Adair Street and Great Ancoats Street close to Manchester Piccadilly station.

Leonardo Hotel will have 275 bedrooms, a ground-floor restaurant, bar and outdoor terrace area that will overlook a new public square, to be constructed as part of the development.

Leonardo Hotel will be an anchor development in the Piccadilly East neighbourhood. The building will feature planters adorning the side of the Jenga-inspired design of the hotel providing a striking canopy of greenery on Manchester’s skyline.

An early 2022 completion is anticipated – ‘coronavirus permitting’.

Development of the new art'otel London Hoxton can go ahead now PPHE Hotel Group has secured the £180million required funding.

art'otel London Hoxton will occupy a 27-storey building. It will have 343 bedrooms plus a restaurant and bar. Leisure facilities will include a gym, swimming pool and wellness facilities. The hotel will also feature art gallery space and five floors of office space.

art'otel London Hoxton will be located in Old Street in central London. A 2022 opening is anticipated.

Another art’otel with 160 bedrooms is expected to open within London’s Battersea Power Station development – opening anticipated in 2022.

Plans have been published to convert a vacant office block in the centre of Birmingham into an aparthotel and a boutique hostel.

St James' House is an eight-storey building in Horse Fair. The O2 Academy sits on the ground floor but the office space above has been vacant since 2003.

Plans would see an additional four storeys added to the building. Levels three to six would be the hostel, with the aparthotel located on levels seven through to 11. The plans would create 94 aparthotel rooms and 64 hostel rooms.

St James’s House is a short walk from Birmingham New Street Station.

Plans await the go-ahead from Birmingham City Council.

A new hotel could be coming to Stafford. Plans are in hand to redevelop the former Stafford Rugby Club ground into a £80million mixed-use development.

Plans for the 6.5 acre site include a supermarket, hotel, multi-storey car park and residential properties.

The site, located in the Castlefields area, is part of the Stafford Station Gateway - close to Stafford town centre and Stafford station.

The plan complements Stafford Borough Council’s Regeneration Plan intended to maximise the benefits to the town of the proposed HS2 high-speed rail link through Stafford. HS2 promises to reduce the rail journey to London to less than an hour.

Development of the new Hotel La Tour in Milton Keynes can now go ahead having secured the required £22million funding.

The proposed four-star Hotel La Tour Milton Keynes gained planning approval in 2018.  

Hotel La Tour Milton Keynes, at 14-storeys, will be the tallest building in Milton Keynes. It will have 261 bedrooms, a rooftop bar and restaurant, leisure facilities and ten meeting and events rooms. It is scheduled to open in 2022.

The first, and so far only, Hotel La Tour opened in central Birmingham in 2012. The hotel was subsequently acquired by the Dalata Group in 2017 who rebranded the property as a Clayton Hotel.
