Aparthotel planned in ‘super slender’ tower block
Planning permission has been granted for the UK’s first ‘super slender’ tower block in Birmingham.
The ‘211 Broad Street’ skyscraper will rise to 37-storeys, or 116m in height, but will be just 9.5m wide. The building will house an aparthotel featuring a bar, restaurant, gym and residents lounge.
The skyscraper block will be located near Brindley Place, one of the new stops on the West Midlands Metro extension and within easy walking distance of city centre Birmingham.
Construction is expected to be finished in 2022.

Boutique Hotel planned in Chester
Wildes Hotel Group has submitted a planning application to create the first Wildes-branded boutique hotel in the centre of Chester.
The group intend to convert offices in Bridge Street, which are currently vacant, into a new 16-bedroom boutique hotel and spa.
The office building is a Grade II-listed building set within the historical Rows of Chester with views over Eastgate Street. The building features huge fireplaces, stone windows and original beams – all of which will be ‘sensitively refurbished’.
The Wildes Hotel will feature a bar and restaurant, as well as a rooftop pool and spa.
If everything goes to plan a spring 2021 opening is envisaged.
