Shankly Hotel Preston aiming for 2021 opening
Signature Living’s project to convert Preston's former Post Office in the city centre into a second Shankly hotel is "progressing well” despite the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
The former Post Office building dates from early 1900’s. An asbestos problem discovered during its conversion combined with the effects of the pandemic put a stop to the building project last year.
The problems have been overcome and the Shankly Hotel Preston is now expected to open later this year with 65 bedrooms plus a restaurant, bar and events facilities for up to 160 people.
Like its sister property, the Shankly Hotel Liverpool, the hotel is dedicated to the late Liverpool Football Club manager Bill Shankly who turned out for Preston North End during his playing days. The hotel will feature a museum dedicated to the man.
Shankly Hotel Preston is located in the centre of Preston overlooking the city’s Flag Market and rubbing shoulders with the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library. It is a five-minute walk from Preston station.
