Surfing in Manchester planned
Meeting and event planners will soon have another team building option for delegates in the centre of Manchester.
Plans have just been approved to construct an inland surfing lagoon on a brownfield site off Barton Dock Road in Trafford Park, close to MediaCityUK.
The project - Modern Surf Manchester - will be suitable for beginners, learners and professionals alike.
Designs for the lagoon also feature bar and restaurant facilities and other attractions including a fitness zone and exercise areas.
Modern Surf Manchester will be within easy travelling distance of central Manchester. It could be open by 2023 if all goes to plan.

New Hotel coming to Swansea Bay
A new16-bedroom boutique hotel is currently under construction at Mumbles in Swansea Bay. The new hotel will be part of the new Oyster Wharf development which first opened in Mumbles in 2016.
Oyster Wharf currently includes restaurants and bars plus retail units and features a piazza overlooking the sea and Swansea Bay.
The Mumbles Hotel is expected to open in 2021.

The Dilly coming to London
Le Méridien Piccadilly hotel in London is rebranding early next year. The hotel will drop its Marriott name and continue trading as ‘the Dilly’ an independent hotel. A refurbishment of the hotel which first opened in 1908 has already begun.
The Dilly will have 283 bedrooms and suites. The food and beverage outlets will include The Terrace and Madhu’s Indian pop-up restaurant. Leisure facilities will feature a health club and spa including a dedicated dance studio plus a large underground swimming pool.
The Dilly will have seven meeting and events rooms over a total of 9625 sq-ft with a capacity from 10 to 245 delegates.
The Dilly is located right in the heart of central London between Piccadilly and Regent Street.

Henry’s Townhouse opening December
Henry’s Townhouse is a new luxury boutique hotel opening in Marylebone in central London this December.
Henry’s Townhouse is a Grade II-listed building which was once owned by Jane Austen’s brother Henry.
Henry’s Townhouse comprises just seven elegant and elaborately designed bedrooms all equipped with the latest amenities including a flat screen television and a Nespresso coffee machine.
Facilities at Henry’s Townhouse include a bespoke Pantry Kitchen with a sharing table for breakfast and private dining. The room can also be converted into a fully equipped meeting room accommodating up to 14 delegates. Henry’s Townhouse also features an outside terrace and a reading room.
Henry’s Townhouse is located in Upper Berkeley Street, a short walk from Hyde Park in Marylebone.

Spring opening for The Londoner
Edwardian Hotels have announced that they will be launching The Londoner, their first ‘Super Boutique’ hotel in Leicester Square in central London in April 2021.
The Londoner hotel represents a £300million investment for the group. The 16-storey hotel will have 350 bedrooms, all with floor to ceiling windows plus a range of suites including a tower penthouse suite.
The Londoner will have six restaurant and dining options including alfresco dining on the ground floor and a Japanese lounge bar featuring a roof terrace.
The Londoner will have a range of seven meeting and events suites plus a ballroom with an 850-guest capacity. Leisure facilities will include a wellness centre with a gym and swimming pool.
The Londoner will be a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts

Work starts on new Liverpool hotel
Building work has just started on refurbishing the Municipal Building on Liverpool's Dale Street. Over the next two years the Grade II-listed former council offices will be converted into a 179-bedroom four-star hotel.
The new hotel will feature a restaurant and bar in the building’s atrium. It will also include leisure facilities and a range of meeting rooms throughout.
The Municipal Building dates back to 1868 and was home to Liverpool City Council from its completion until the authority moved out in 2017.
The new hotel will be operated by the Fragrance Group.
