The former Fosters Cycles building on Thames Street was previously used for the manufacture, sale and storage of bicycles. It is currently vacant.
The factory is a three-storey building, a rare piece of industrial architecture and reputed at the time it was built, in 1855, to be the largest factory of its kind in the world.
Plans would see the factory converted to create a 23-bedroom hotel.

Moxy Manchester City has dispensed with the front check-in desk. Instead, guests head to the bar where a complimentary cocktail is served at check-in.

London Police Station to become a hotel
Dexter Moren Associates Architects have secured planning consent to convert a Grade II-listed 1960s police station in London into a luxury hotel.
The former Wood Street Police Station in London will be converted into a modern 216-bedroom five-star hotel. Work is scheduled to begin this year with a planned opening in 2023.
Many of the station’s original features will be incorporated into the hotel: The police stables will become a gourmet restaurant, featuring dining booths within the individual stalls. The custody cells will be converted into tasting rooms for an on-site whisky bar. The former assembly hall at the police station is set to be transformed into a grand ballroom. The original vehicle turntable will also be converted - into the hotel’s central bar.
A two-storey extension to the building is planned which will include additional bedrooms plus a basement gym, swimming pool, spa, conference and events rooms and a restaurant.
Wood Street Police Station is located in Wood Street in Barbican – a four-minute walk from the Museum of London and close to St Paul's and Moorgate tube stations.
