Plans are afoot to transform the Grade II-listed Central Methodist Hall in the centre of Birmingham into a major 150-bedroom hotel. The building which dates from the beginning of the twentieth century has now been vacant for the last three years and has fallen into disrepair.

The Irish-based hospitality group Press Up are behind the plans. The Central Methodist Hall could become the group’s first Dean branded hotel outside Ireland.

Plans would provide up to 150 hotel bedrooms plus a rooftop restaurant and bar, housed in the north part of the building. A 1,500-seat events space is also included in the plans. Retail outlets and bars would be housed on the ground floor.

Central Methodist Hall is located in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham.

The Twenty Two is a new luxury hotel which has just opened on Grosvenor Square in London’s Mayfair.

The Twenty Two is sited in a Grade II-listed Edwardian manor house now converted to house 31 bedrooms and suites plus a mews house, as well as an all-day restaurant and a private members' club.

Hotel guests have access to the private members club with a lounge and outdoor terrace overlooking Grosvenor Square.

The Twenty Two is situated on the corner of North Audley Street and Grosvenor Square.

Hyatt Hotels have just opened two new hotels in Stratford, East London: Hyatt Regency London Stratford and Hyatt House London Stratford.

The Hyatt Regency London Stratford has 225 bedrooms and suites. Hyatt House London Stratford has 127 apartment-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and workspaces designed for an extended stay.

Hyatt Regency London Stratford includes a restaurant and bar plus an open-air terrace.

Hyatt Regency London Stratford features a purpose-built conference suite with three meeting and events rooms located on the third floor of the hotel. The Stratford Suite is the largest at 195 sq-mt with natural daylight and seating up to 90 delegates. It is fitted with dual ceiling-mounted projectors and two 3m drop-down screens. Two smaller spaces that can be used as breakouts.

Both hotels share a fitness centre for guests.

Hyatt Regency London Stratford and Hyatt House London Stratford are located in Chestnut Plaza in the heart of the Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre and within walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London Stadium. They have good access to the new Queen Elizabeth Crossrail line, due to open mid-2022, which will offer a rail link from Heathrow Airport to Stratford in approximately 45 minutes.

Plans have just been published to transform the former Watt Brothers department store in Glasgow into a £20 million boutique hotel. The shop located on the corner of Bath Street and Sauchiehall Street in the centre of Glasgow went into administration in October 2019.

Plans published for the art-deco styled property would see it turn into a mixed-use development with retail sites on the ground floor and a 125-bedroom hotel above. The plans also propose an additional floor to accommodate more bedrooms.

The plans have been submitted by entrepreneur brothers Sandy and James Easdale who also own McGills Buses in Glasgow.

Virgin Hotel Edinburgh is set to open 1st June 2022 in the historic India Building in Edinburgh’s Old Town, close to the Royal Mile, in the centre of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Virgin Hotel Edinburgh will have 222 bedrooms and suites all fully equipped with the latest in-room comforts and technology. There will be a variety of restaurants and bars. Virgin Hotel Edinburgh will feature four meeting and events spaces with the largest room seating up to 150 delegates theatre style.

Virgin Hotel Glasgow, its sister hotel, is set to open later this summer.

Hilton  Hotels have unveiled plans for a new hotel in Plymouth.

A 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn Plymouth is planned on a site overlooking Plymouth Hoe.

The new hotel will feature a skybar with views of Plymouth Sound.

Development work on the new Hilton Garden Inn Plymouth is not expected to start before the end of 2023.
