The brand-new Mercure Newport Hotel has just opened in the centre Newport, South Wales.

Mercure Newport Hotel has 135 contemporary styled bedrooms, an open plan restaurant, an outdoor rooftop terrace plus a fitness centre.

Mercure Newport Hotel also features an events floor with five fully equipped meeting rooms with breakout areas. All rooms have natural daylight and are fully air-conditioned and equipped with the latest technology.

The largest suite will seat up to 72 delegates for a theatre style meeting.

Mercure Newport Hotel is located next to Friars Walk shopping centre in Newport; a five minute walk from Newport  Station and just under two miles from the M4 at junction25.

Plans to turn an historic, but derelict, Grade II-listed building in Sheffield into an aparthotel have been approved.

The building, formerly the tribunal court, is located opposite Sheffield Cathedral. It dates back to 1825 and was originally built and used as a Bluecoat school for boys. The building has remained vacant for the last four and a half years.

The regeneration project will create 18 modern apartments whilst preserving the main historic aspects of the building.

The aparthotel will be located in East Parade in the heart of Cathedral Quarter in central Sheffield.

Plans are afoot to transform the Grade II-listed Central Methodist Hall in the centre of Birmingham into a major 150-bedroom hotel. The building which dates from the beginning of the twentieth century has now been vacant for the last three years and has fallen into disrepair.

The Irish-based hospitality group Press Up are behind the plans. The Central Methodist Hall could become the group’s first Dean branded hotel outside Ireland.

Plans would provide up to 150 hotel bedrooms plus a rooftop restaurant and bar, housed in the north part of the building. A 1,500-seat events space is also included in the plans. Retail outlets and bars would be housed on the ground floor.

Central Methodist Hall is located in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham.

Plans have just been published to transform the former Watt Brothers department store in Glasgow into a £20 million boutique hotel. The shop located on the corner of Bath Street and Sauchiehall Street in the centre of Glasgow went into administration in October 2019.

Plans published for the art-deco styled property would see it turn into a mixed-use development with retail sites on the ground floor and a 125-bedroom hotel above. The plans also propose an additional floor to accommodate more bedrooms.

The plans have been submitted by entrepreneur brothers Sandy and James Easdale who also own McGills Buses in Glasgow.

Moxy Bristol is a new hotel which has just opened in Bristol. The Moxy brand is part of the Marriott Bonvoy group.

Moxy Bristol has 214 bedrooms and suites plus remote working space, a meeting room, a restaurant and bar plus a gym. The bar doubles as the check-in desk, with guests receiving a complimentary cocktail on arrival. Moxy Bristol has super-fast wi-fi throughout.

The interiors of Moxy Bristol take their inspiration from Bristol’s famous ‘street art’ scene.

Moxy Bristol is located in Newfoundland Street opposite Cabot Circus in the centre of Bristol.
