Ibis Budget London Heathrow T5 has just opened. It is the first phase of the refurbishment and rebrand of the former Travelodge at the terminal.

Ibis Budget London Heathrow T5 has 297 bedrooms, a mix of standard doubles and family rooms – all air-conditioned with wi-fi/internet access. At the moment, the hotel will provide essential accommodation to key workers throughout the Covid lockdown.

Ibis Budget London Heathrow T5 has an on-site restaurant and bar plus private parking. There is a Hoppa  Bus connection to the Terminal buildings.

Construction work begins later this year to build a new hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

Accor have secured planning consent for a new 251-bedroom Ibis Hotel. It will be located next to the airport and is expected to open in early 2023.

Ibis Edinburgh Airport will feature the brand’s ‘urban plaza’ design and will include flexible social and working areas. Facilities will include a restaurant, bar and breakfast area plus 125 car parking spaces.

Ibis Edinburgh Airport will join existing Ibis Hotels in Edinburgh including: Ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile – Hunter Square; Ibis Styles Edinburgh St Andrew Square Hotel and Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge – Royal Mile Hotel

Dalata Hotels Group currently have ten new hotels under construction in the UK which are projected to open during 2021 – 2022. Between them they will bring over 2500 additional hotel bedrooms onto the market. The list includes:

Qbic is set to open its fourth hotel this April in Manchester. Qbic Manchester will be located in John Dalton House in John Dalton Street in the heart of Manchester overlooking Spinningfields.

Qbic Manchester will have 261 air-conditioned bedrooms ranging from small double ‘minis' to suites each furnished with a 32 inch LED digital channel television, a desk and free wi-fi access plus a private bathroom with a rainfall shower.

Motley Restaurant at Qbic Manchester will be serving breakfast, through brunch, lunch and dinner.

Qbic Manchester will feature Trib3 boutique fitness studio plus meeting space.

Qbic Manchester will be championing sustainability throughout. Qbic Manchester will feature roof solar panels on top of the building – providing green energy for the hotel. Additionally, the showers feature an innovative eco-friendly design that creates a water-efficient high-pressure shower. Qbic will also operate a reward scheme for its customers, offering free drinks to guests who do not need their rooms cleaned daily.

Qbic Manchester also aims to become one of the very few pet-friendly hotels in the city and is conveniently located next to a park.

Qbic Manchester is within easy walking distance of Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Manchester Oxford Road stations.

A Leicestershire golf club has published plans to build a new hotel on its course.

Forest Hill Golf and Country Club in Botcheston, Leicestershire is to submit plans for a new 152-bedroom hotel with a leisure and spa complex plus meeting and events facilities. The hotel would be constructed within the club’s grounds, on land currently occupied by a redundant nine-hole golf course.

The new hotel would be called ‘The Club at Forest Hill’.

The plans have been submitted to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council planners.

Conference News is reporting a new regional convention bureau: Meet Bristol & Bath. It has just been created to help attract conferences and events to the region.

Meet Bristol & Bath will target a global audience and is looking to develop the association, corporate and incentive travel businesses worldwide. 

New projects planned in the region which will no doubt feature in the Meet Bristol & Bath portfolio include:

The YTL Arena Bristol which is due to open in 2023. The Arena will feature three interlinked arenas including a flexible hall with 11,000sq-mt of floor space for exhibitions, trade shows and conventions plus a 17,080-seat arena.

Ashton Gate Stadium, home of Bristol City Football Club, is aiming to develop a state of the art 4,000 capacity sports and convention centre, adjacent to their existing venue. The development will include a 4-star hotel.

New hotels scheduled to open in Bristol over the next few years include the Leonardo Hotel Bristol Glassfields scheduled to open in 2021 with 200 bedrooms and a new 255-bedroom Clayton Hotel scheduled to open in early 2022. Both will feature extensive meeting and events facilities.

Meanwhile in Bath the new Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein visitor attraction opens this Spring. This will include an escape room experience for groups.
