Hyatt Centric coming to Cambridge
The UK's first Hyatt Centric hotel is set to open in Cambridge in summer 2021. Hyatt Centric hotels are the group’s ‘lifestyle brand’ and Cambridge will be the seventh Hyatt Centric property in Europe.
Hyatt Centric Cambridge will have 150 bedrooms. The hotel will feature locally inspired design plus local retail and food offerings. Hyatt Centric Cambridge will provide bicycles for guests to rent so they can go forth and explore the university city of Cambridge during their stay.
Hyatt Centric Cambridge is part of the University of Cambridge’s development of Eddington, a new community northwest of Cambridge.
Alongside Hyatt Centric Cambridge there will also be a new Locke aparthotel with 180 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments plus a restaurant, cocktail bar, coffee shop, retail space, co-working facilities, meeting rooms and an events space.
The site will include 3,000 new residential units, retail facilities, a community and performance arts centre, sports fields, public parks, school and student accommodations, as well as academic and research facilities.
Further planned additions to the Hyatt UK portfolio include Hyatt Place London City East and Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina, expected to open in 2021.

Room2 to open in Fulham
Room2 is to open its first ‘hometel’ at the restored Fulham Town Hall in London.
Fulham Town Hall by Room2 will comprise 90 bedrooms and most will have kitchenettes. It will also feature a mix of events and co-working space as well as food and beverage offerings.
Fulham Town Hall is a Grade II-listed building. Renovation work is due to begin in May 2020. Room2 is scheduled to open late 2021.
Room2 plan to open 5000 hometel rooms across the UK by 2030. They are challenging what they consider to be ‘soulless’ corporate hotels and offering an innovative, relaxed and flexible alternative.
Other Room2 properties are planned with an 89-room hometel in Chiswick scheduled to open spring 2021, followed by a 59-room property in Manchester.

Stratford on Avon store to become a hotel
Plans to convert the former BHS store in Stratford-on-Avon into a 170-bedroom hotel have been approved.
The building is a Grade II-listed property but has been vacant since the demise of BHS in 2016.
The new hotel will include a restaurant, bar and gym as well as offering a space for a separate independent restaurant.
The new hotel is expected to operate as an Ark hotel, part of the Bespoke Hotels group.
The proposed new hotel would be located in Bridge Street in the centre of Stratford on Avon.

Hampton by Hilton opening in Blackburn
‘Hampton by Hilton’ is coming to Lancashire. A new 150-bedroom Hampton by Hilton will be opening on Blackburn’s new Frontier Park £100million, 90-acre development situated at junction 6 of the M65 motorway.
On completion, the Frontier Park development will include around one million square feet of industrial and warehouse accommodation, motorway services plus a 1,400-delegate capacity conference and events centre.
Hampton by Hilton Blackburn is expected to open later this year.
Hampton by Hilton is aimed at "value-conscious" guests and is one of 15 Hilton brands. There are currently 28 Hampton by Hilton hotels in the UK, with a further 20 in the pipeline.

Hotel news from Liverpool
Plans to transform of a Grade II-listed former office building on Castle Street in central Liverpool into an aparthotel have been approved.
The property has been vacant since 2016. The new aparthotel will have 33 rooms - a mix of first and second-floor studio and one-bedroom aparthotel rooms complete with kitchenettes and a shared communal lounge area.
Conversion work is expected to start this summer with completion anticipated early to mid 2021.

Meanwhile a detailed planning application has been submitted for a new Leonardo Hotel in Liverpool.
Leonardo Liverpool would be a 13-storey building on Pall Mall - part of Liverpool’s £200 million regeneration of the area.
Leonardo Liverpool would be housed in a 13-storey building and would have 280 bedrooms plus a restaurant, bar and meeting facilities.
The new Leonardo Hotel would share the development site with offices as well as leisure and retail outlets.

Raffles to operate residences at Old War Office hotel
An agreement was signed in 2017 for the Raffles Hotels & Resorts to operate a new flagship hotel at the Old War Office building in London. They will now also be operating 85 residences at the Old War Office - to be branded ‘Owo Residences by Raffles’.
The Grade II-listed Old War Office building, originally completed in 1906, has just celebrated its ‘topping out’ ceremony and the hotel and residences are expected to open in early 2022.
The Old War Office will reopen as ‘Raffles London at the OWO’ with a 125 bedroom and suites, 85 private residences, nine restaurants and bars, a destination spa and boutique retail offerings.
Raffles London at the OWO will join a family of 16 Raffles hotels globally.
